The weird shaking box message. Also confirmation of the pic upload working. Thank you Black Hand.

Just dismiss - it should go away. It was for another plugin (Cloudinary) I tried a while ago for image upload that didn't work for me.
Glad I could help. Learned some new things too...

One of the few good things about that other ML site is the way it handles images. I could just drag any image directly from my computer into a post I was composing and was there, instantly, nothing else required. Dead simple, no third party image storage needed. Why don't all sites do it that way?

This exercise shows the same can be done here - please see the PDF above. Drag & drop then select insert (insert shows the image in the post, if not inserted, the image is attached instead).

Why don't all sites do it that way? Spence The impression I have always been given is that is has to do with storage space. Keep in mind, I have no idea how computers work, and less of an idea of how this whole internet thing actually works and how/where this stuff is stored. I have been lead to believe that by users putting their images on hosting sites, the forum, or blog, isn't using storage space for them when the bbcode link is posted, somehow the image is visible where the code is placed even though it is stored elsewhere. I suspect some involvement in "the dark arts" is in play.

I tried this method in an actual post, no problem. It's good not to have to upload the image to an image storing site first, good work, BH.
A question...the image shows up on my screen as a semi-thumbnail, considerably smaller than the original, but if I click on it, it expands. Does this work for everybody? I'm using Chrome on a Mac, is that expansion a function of the Minuteman site and works for any browser, any computer, or is that a Chrome-on-a-Mac function?

The click to expand works for me. I don't think it is unique to a certain OS or browser, rather a function.

Your raccoon picture is a small but viewable size in your post. When I click on it I get a full screen image of it opened in another window. I agree. This new feature is fantastic.

Probably a stupid question to some people, but, this dummy needs to ask. A couple times lately I've tried to share photos here and the system tells me the photo file is too big. How do I reduce the size of the file without changing the picture for use elsewhere?

How do I reduce the size of the file without changing the picture for use elsewhere? Happens to me too. My solution has been to upload it to ImgBB and post the link. I had to do this for the oiler picture...

You can change the resolution of the photo without changing the physical size. That changes the storage space required, and I imagine that's the problem you are having.
I'm a Mac user, and it comes with a photo display application/program called Preview which allows me to do that change. I'd be surprised if any computer didn't have some similar application to allow the same. Any graphic will display in high enough quality with a resolution of 72 or higher, so if you can figure a way to adjust that to 72 it should solve your problem.
I use postimage as my third-party graphics storage site, and it automatically reduces the resolution of all images uploaded to it, as do most such sites. That means that when I post images stored there to Minuteman, the size requirement has already been met.

Thank you Spence. Oddly I gave not encountered the file size issue when posting a photo here that I have uploaded to a host site.
I will try to find out how to do what you suggest.
