bushfire said, " I may try this." Here are two targets shot 17 years apart with that load....80-85gr. 3F, 1/8" hard card, 1/2" cushion wad soaked with melted paste lube, ball in a ticking patch with the same lube. 75 yards, rest, 1997: 100 yards, rest, 2014: Spwnce Spence, Thats some good shooting but I must confirm, is that a smoothbore? If so that's incredible! What is your gun? I don't have 3F but will substitute it for a little more 2F. Mine is a Centermark Fusil de Chasse. It was picked up at Friendship over 20 years ago by a gentleman from Aus and imported into Australia. The only one in the country.

Yes, it's a smoothbore, 20 gauge. I've had it since the summer of 1997.
The gun is by a U.S. builder named Jackie Brown. Flintlock, 46-inch barrel, single trigger, front sight only. It's technically a 'smooth rifle' I guess, since it has a sliding wooden patch box and a cheek piece.
I used to have a close friend I hunted and trekked with, and he shot a Fusil de Chasse by Narraganset Arms, so I've seen one in action quite a bit.
