Looking for a gourd canteen or a gourd that is pretty much ready to be turned into a water carrier.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks, Dave

How can I get some your way? In all seriousness do you feel customs would be a nightmare? I suspect that if sent in the form of gourds, customs might have an issue. If sent as a finished canteen, might be a different story. Customs is funny about agricultural items - some cheeses and processed/cured meats are verboten while tomato paste is not(?). Go figure...

They are picky and I get worried with things sitting for ages in a customs warehouse... had some arrow shafting from the UK get lost for about three months.

Well probably no problem from customs, my youngest son ordered gourds from China, but when they arrived we found that they were very small ! I am still looking, I was hoping to at least get some seeds so I can grow my own. Keith.

Hawkeyes, I just saw your post (I had a separate post looking for a canteen). I would also be interested if possible and you have any left.
Are there particular period correct ways to strap or tie these one?

Are there particular period correct ways to strap or tie these one? Hawkeyes has a good thread on here regarding making/finishing and use of these. Poke around a bit, or go to his profile page and look at his list of topics and you should find it. If not, you know how to reach me.
