I think I'll avoid those "frosts," step on one unstable rock and one is going down.

I think I'll avoid those "frosts," step on one unstable rock and one is going down. I think I'd avoid them too. I'm not completely sure if that picture is an accurate depiction of "frosts". They look more like an early version of crampons, but it and the other pictures do illustrate that much consideration was given to having a firm footing under you. Some shoes were "shod" like a horse for better traction, Miners wore boots completely filled with hobs to protect their feet and soles from walking on fresh cleaved stones all day long.
