That problem hasn't come up yet, but I think they would be OK if I put them inside the pouch.

The rifle is 62 caliber - with pillow ticking as a patch (0.015), it's a snug fit. Smoothbore gets a 0.010 patch. I have 1 bag and my tin has both thicknesses of patches. This way, I can't forget. Shot loads are carried in a small split-belly pouch with a small tin of cards.

Riff Raff seems very few and far between here because things are moderated on the membership 'request'. Somehow... I snuck in. As of yet, no one has broken the rules (there may have been a couple times that a rule got bruised). I check the location/source of the IP address for applicants and if it smells funny, I decline. IIRC, I've done this a time or 2. The site has been up over 2 years now, and not one ridiculous ego-motivated screed as has been seen elsewhere. I'm OK with that. Brown paper sounds like an interesting idea - I should give it a try.

Spence and others, I am not ducking your references. I have been thinking about some of the things brought up here, but over too many days, now it seems a challenge to address each on there own.
I too lament the lack of activity here, but, I enjoy the lack of silly arguing. A good argument (shades of Monty Python aside) can be beneficial,,, if both sides present valid information and if both sides listen to the other with the goal of understanding (this doesn't mean agreeing) instead of listening with the goal to respond. Unfortunately, the arguing on that other forum is generally of the useless nature. I try to occasionally point people in this direction. But, I am extremely choosy about who I direct here. Usually my impetus to send someone this way comes from questions they have asked more than from answers they have given. Ryan, I too learn a lot from other people's questions. I'm not sure what the solution is to generating more activity, while maintaining the atmosphere we all enjoy here.
I do think I would post more if pictures were easier to post here. Having to save them/upload them to a host site then toggle between that site and here, copying and pasting BBCodes is a hassle. But, I am sure this requires technical things that cost money, and while I don't get the range time I would desire, I have less money than time.
I do greatly enjoy when Spence shares an old post from one of the other forums or a gem from his website or archives. These are always good for discussion. Artifice has had some gems on tools amd making leather gear and such in the past. Maybe an archival project of bringing some of that stuff here would generate more discussion, at a higher level than may have occurred on that other forum? Maybe some of the newer guys like Ryan and Bushfire can find some over there that they would like to see discussed here without all the chaff?
Paper, I use brown full size grocery bags for my pre-made shot cup/cartridges and for shot cups formed at the muzzle. When I try paper strips folded to form a barrier between powder and wadding, I will use the same. I just don't get much range time with my muzzleloaders anymore. I am wondering about rubbing some with beeswax then warming them to soak the wax in for use in wet weather?
Sorry, I'm already starting to loose my focus and train of thought....

Brokennock et. al., I've started a separate thread in the Tavern to address some of the questions/comments you have here. Please see other thread...
