As a purist, you may not have considered the quench between 2 aluminum plates. I've seen it done, but haven't done it myself. I have never done a plate quench, but have certainly heard of it being done. I typically go right from the quench tank to the 8" bench vise (after an 8 sec quench, while still above 400F) to help prevent warping, and that works well. However, I am finding that on these really thin blades, the warp sometimes returns after tempering, necessetating a straightening jig (essentially 3 dowels in the bench vise).

I've seen a fixture used (3 bolts in a U-channel) used to "unbend" a blade with another temper cycle.

Good site, isn't it? Aside from the landmark series of articles in Journal of the Early Americas by Kevin Gladysz and Ken Hamilton, Scavengology has some of the best info on jambettes I have seen.
