Thanks Keith!
All my best to all - eat, drink and be merry (but not too merry, as all of us besides Ben are older and might hurt ourselves). Albert

Merry Christmas all.
Thanks for the great picture Keith. I hope that even though you get to officially start Christmas before us,,, you keep celebrating until we're done.
Abert,,,, Ben will hurt himself anyway. But, he'll recover more easily.

Merry Christmas to all of you! I will raise a glass of Christmas whiskey in your Honour!
A very special Christmas for me...earlier this year, I returned to Jesus, and the Church, after a lifetime in the Wilderness.

PS: Be assured, the above is my first and last post re my religious belief, I am not given to proselytizing, and having run the full gamut of belief and non-belief myself, I am completely respectful of different beliefs and non-beliefs of others.
Like all of you, I am here for the sharing of knowledge of the old firearms, accoutrements and historic aspects of those times, and, especially, the friendships I have made here.
In keeping with the latter, Christmas Day, I drank a glass ( shot glass that is π) to all of you...Wigle Deep Cut Straight Rye Whiskey, 112.4 proof, distilled right here at the Forks of the Ohio. You are in my heart.

Merry Christmas, Richard. Thanks for the wishes. Whatβs your interest in the 18th century?

Thank you, Ryan. My interest in the 18th Century involves the French and Indian War, which started not far from here ( Pittsburgh), and had considerable fighting in this area; Lord Dunmore's War, again centered here; Pontiac's War/Rebellion ( Fort Pitt held out against his siege...and one of the first movies I ever saw as a young boy with my Mother, was Unconquered, with Gary Cooper, a great film!); obviously, the American Revolution ( in these parts, largely fought against raiding Native Americans and British irregulars like the Girty Brothers); I have two flintlock rifles, both 1803 Harpers Ferry ( one a .58 Zoli reproduction, the other a correct,.54 cal custom made many years ago by a friend, Ed Zetler, now gone.) I have hunted with them since 1975. I also sing and play traditional Irish, Scottish and American music, much of it from the 18th century, much of it older or newer. I play the old wooden flute. Co- founded the group Road to the Isles. www.roadtotheisles.orgNote: the bio is outdated, and I did not write it. I have been playing well over 60 years. I never got into re-enacting, admire people who do, and respect people who have skills and knowledge, and are willing to share it. All of which brought me here.. Richard/Grumpa

Ryan, I have some of Richard's music, I recommend it for some period style listening.
Oddly, despite my early education and early (and relatively brief) time playing somewhat professionally,,,, I know very, very little, about 18th century common/popular music. But, I do enjoy listening to one of Richard's CDs in the truck on my way to having a walk with a flintlock.
