Others I've seen but not eaten - Plantain (the leafy "weed" not the banana-like fruit), Dock, Purslane, Salsify and Chenopodium. All edible, but I haven't tried them...
I've also eaten wild onion and the seedpods from Shepherd's purse. Curious to try Fireweed, as it is abundant.

I appear to be one of those people that isn't affected. I remember wandering though the scrub with a friend in California, he got a rash from Poison Ivy/Oak and I got nothing... I don't have issues with Poison Ivy or Oak either. However, I appear to be a magnet for insects like chiggers and mosquitoes, they absolutely love me. My dad got poison on a regular basis...yet never had the insect problem...they simply never bothered him. Funny enough my mom and I are the same...interesting to me how such things effect one person, but not the other.

A poultice made from Plantain leaves (Plantago Major) the stuff growing in your yard probably, not the banana. Works well for relieving a bee sting. I have tried it and it does seem to work. You can chew the leaf and apply it to the bee sting or just spit on it and crush it with your fingers good.

I've used black walnut hulls to dye a fair bit of gear. Honey locust thorns are good blanket pins, pegs for the base plug of your powder horn. Elderberry twigs/branches make excellent pipe stems. I've eaten wild grapes. The seeds of ash trees, the 'keys', can be pickled and eaten. My grandmother fed me a lot of pokeweed when I was a kid. Good. Spence
