Do we have any comparisons handy to help us visualize the weight of the textiles being woven when in the o.p. we are told of the instructions to the weaver regarding how much fabric is expected for the amount of cotton provided? Sorry, I don't. Spence |

Thanks, lenape, I'm glad to get that one. I just did a quick check of my database and I have 62 runaway ads which mention cotton items such as that. I didn't find this one, so I added it. I have at least 3-4 times that many references in other contexts, many in ads offering cotton items for sale. Spence No problem, sorry for the late response, I am working away from home and as I prefer to use my desktop I am doing this on the weekends. I got the runaway ad from this site, which has many ads, www.irelandoldnews.com/History/runaways2.htm I am collecting ads/descriptions from the 1750's in the PA and OH country, so if you want to post any of your collection from those areas and time frames I wouldn't complain!  |
