Okay maybe it's my eyes on one of them, but I have a couple questions about some other objects in this picture. The object above the firesteel, is it upside down and maybe the long tapered end is like a rat tail tang. This would require what would appear to be a rather large haft. I am assuming it gets hated and I can see no other way to do so. Similar question about the hatchet on the right. This one may just be my eyes, phone, and the picture quality not getting along. The way the handle has oxidized, it looks like the iron the head is made from. Could it have an iron handle? Is it one piece? By one piece I mean various parts might still be forge welded, but it doesn't come apart for a new handle.

Nock, The second piece from top on the left look like it could've been a froe. The piece below that is tough to identify... I was thinking that it could be a bill hook knife but the pointed tang would be pointing in the wrong direction... Looks too think for a scythe blade, even if it was broken and re-sharpened

I think the hatchet on the right has a metal handle, no question. Blowing it up makes it seem to be all one piece.
I can make no sense of the object above the fire steel.

I didn't realize all metal hatchets went back very far. Never really liked any of the ones I've had.
Thanks for the pic and food for thought.

Any ideas on the item above the suspected froe?

I think that's another steel.

I think that you might be right about the object below the froe being shown upside down. It looks like it could be the head from cane (corn stalk? sugarcane?) cutter. That use would not require the little poll opposite the blade tho. It would help to know how thick/heavy the blade is.

I'm not sure that tool was ever finished by the blacksmith, but it reminds me of a "peavy" or log hook made to roll logs?
