Pocket-sized. Punched with a sharpened cut nail (more of the Thompson's waterseal tin). Birds-eye maple, aquafortis with beeswax.

Nice work.
Do you have a ready source for whole nutmegs?

Do you have a ready source for whole nutmegs? Yes - at least 2 local stores carry Nutmegs. What a difference in flavor from the sawdust I grew up eating...

Nice work! I have zero experience with nutmeg but have come across it consistently in period accounts. Guess I should source some and figure out what to do with it. Great little grater. (See what I did there?)

It's a greater grater than you realize. The boy does great work, much greater than I can.

Much appreciated. That said, the grater is quite a simple project and I am confident that anyone could make one. Having seen the knowledge and determination among the members here...

(See what I did there?) Ryan, Try some grating some fresh nutmeg on a piece of roasted meat - truly an eye-opening experience and delicious to boot.

(See what I did there?) I will see if I can find my great-grandma's recipe for sour-milk jumbo cookies, take a picture and post it. The texture is excellent but the flavor would be somewhat boring (I think, taste is subjective) without the raisins in them and the nutmeg sprinkled on top. Combine all three factors and they are a family favorite. I also like it in combo with cinnamon/sugar and butter on/in a baked apple, a light dusting on pork, or dusted on sweet potatoes or butternut squash that already has plenty of butter and salt.

Excellent little device, made one similar years ago. An amazing little trinket to accompany in the provisions bag. Such a suprise how delicious nutmeg truly is on various dishes.
