Most excellent sir. Great job.
Please take up any of those offers to speak and present elsewhere. I fear real history presentations like this are on the endangered species list. Please do this as much as possible while it is possible.

Hawkeyes,
I heartily congratulate you for doing the demonstration and the Teacher/School for allowing it to be done, as many schools have gotten very antsy about even BP guns in schools. I could not agree more with Nock that it would be wonderful for you to do these demonstrations as much as possible, because it gets kids interested in history.

Oh this is wonderful! Truly. The kids look so engaged. Any really insightful questions or comments? 4th graders are usually a great age to engage with the minutiae.

Thank you gentlemen. A pure pleasure it was. Surprisingly the kids asked very relevant questions to the time period. A few off the wall typical kid questions but in all I was pleasantly surprised at the competency of their questions. When demonstrating or teaching to any group I try not to be boring or mundane. Connecting and interaction is critical for me personally when sharing history. Make it exciting because it is!
The kids loved being able to touch and examine pieces of gear. I could just see the wheels turning!

Flint & steel firelighting is always popular with these groups.

So is scalp mounting.
Wait… wrong group.
That’s really great. Was there an object they were especially enamored with? I find kids live objects and that something like a gourd canteen would be a real hit.

Flint & steel firelighting is always popular with these groups. They were enthralled by this. Each group seemed to very much enjoy the flint and steel. Second was how roundballs were made and cornmeal/ oat flour. They got a kick out of the backstrap and leg sinew as well. Just about everything was a winner but flint and steel for sure was the cats meow.

Great stuff mate that’s a pleasure to see in todays day and age. No way we could get a gun into a school here these days.
Hopefully it inspires at least one young kid to learn a bit more about their countries past.

The county in which I reside has much to do with it. Being rural and not influenced by the BS of the idiot masses is a blessing. 90% of our inhabitants are outdoors people who retain decency and responsibility as in they act like adults. Suprise I know in today's society!
Head an hour or so to the city that all changes... Luckily that crap has not influenced our county and people have tried, failed miserably thus far. There still are many good places and people left in a world gone mad.
When it comes down to it I avoid the stupidity of the confused best as one can. I choose to live my life, raise my kids as mine to respect morals and values and take responsibilities seriously. It's my job to do it right, not anyone else's! I certainly don't take that responsibility lightly!
