Does anyone have experience or knowledge in finding accurate patterns? I absolutely cannot find the tailored patterns I had for various garments which is rather infuriating... Outside of tearing apart garments I have (which I'd rather not) I'm looking for an obvious pattern to construct a Jager coat. What say you all here?

I’m learning to not trust some commercial patterns. If I have an original to go from, I’m working on my skill to self-draft starting from a commercial pattern. The jacket I’m (slowly) working on for JJ is like that. I’m modifying a JP Ryan pattern to match an original in a collection. When you say “jager”, are we discussing a military regimental coat from one of the jaeger corps in North America during the Revolutionary War, or a civilian Germanic hunting coat? If military, consider this… www.fortticonderoga.org/ft_events/winter-workshop-series-brunswick-hessian-regimental-coats/Even if not able to attend, the tailors and curators at Fort Ti should be able to assist in getting a suitable pattern.

Attending is out of the question. I had tailored patterns for a nice reg coat and can't find them. For the price of materials these days it's partially not even worth making garments... Can have the dang coat made for about what it costs in materials, not to mention the time which grows more precious.
Most of the commercial patterns do nicely I've found. To the casual observer they know not any better. Anymore the way society is I'm caring less for absolute thread counting and more for just getting the history out in a well done manner. We are obviously in difficult times with more to come unfortunately I feel.
Clouts are still the cheapest intro into the living history garment club! 😄

Never liked parties - too many people and too loud...
