Just finished this poll hawk. It is based on an original in my collection that once belonged to Captain Reuben Briscoe, 3rd VA Rgt., AWI. Featuring a rectangular poll of 5160 forge welded to a wrought iron body of folded eye construction with a 1084 bit insert, it is similar in size and form to the British Light Infantry axe of the period. The head measures 6" from poll to bit, with a 3" bit. I hafted it in curly maple, finished with vinegaroon and linseed oil.

Oooooo 😯 That'll get some work done.... From knocking heads to making beds, to splitting stuff for kindling.
I can see the period ad now, "Get yourself a genuine Paranger poll-hawk, all you need for collecting pine knots to top-knots."
