I carry three knives & a tomahawk. I learnt very early on that when you are butchering out a large beast as fast as you can it is an easy matter to strike a bone & dull the edge of a blade, so as well as my hunting knife I also carry a legging knife & a clasp knife.
My hunting knife is an original 18th or 19th century blade, it had no handle so this made it difficult to date accurately. This butcher blade was originally twice this size, far too large to be practicle.
My legging knife. Again another used blade & difficult to tell if this is the original size.
I was carrying a clasp knife that I had made, but my eldest son purchased this one for me & I so enjoyed using it that I decided to swop it for my usual clasp knife.
My tomahawk.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. Henry David Thoreau woodsrunnersdiary.blogspot.com/
