Weird but don't look bad. May actually serve as spare thread in a pinch

I guess thread buttons weren't that uncommon. The ones I made are tight and would be a chore to disassemble for the return. I'd think if you were down to scavenging thread from your buttons, it might be too late...

Yup. I've been making and using them for some time now, and prefer them bone, leather, or wooden buttons on clothing.

I'm assuming the long length of threading left trailing off the button is threaded onto a needle and used to attach the button to the garment?

It is used to wrap/sew the button and then make the loop used for attachment. I guess you could use it to sew the button to the shirt if needed.

I don't think she shows using it to make a loop for attachment. Basically it winds up working like some modern metal coat buttons that have a wire loop on the back? I did read her tutorial on making the "deaths head" button as well. Can't figure out the reason for the name, but, interesting process. Could use better pictures or a gif when she talks of securing things on the back of the button.
Thanks for posting the link.

I don't think she shows using it to make a loop for attachment. Starts at Step 6... I button-hole stitched the loop too. Core of thin Hemp string sewn with Linen.
