I love spring turkey hunting, our season here in Mo opened up this morning, and I started out on one side of the property and of course, they opened up clear over on the other side, and boy they really gobbled up a storm! After hoofing it over to their side, they had the nerve to fly out into a large field and spent half the morning following the hens around and making obscene gestures in my direction! the land on that half of the property is pretty open, and I was not able to circle around in front of them, so I just set up and waited till the hens left them, then gave a few soft yelps and soon had two nice toms slowly working in, they hung up around 40 yards, ( I like them 25 or less with my smooth-bore) and then left. I will be after them again in the morning, this time with a decoy in hand. Good luck to any of ya'll out there hunting.

Yup. A friend of mine from the Macon, Mo. area went out this morning. She said the only turkey talk she heard was quite far away. She is on public land and a time frame. Didn't think she could get to them. Owns a gunshop so is actually still working. She'll be back after them Weds. I have to wait two more weeks, then hope I can get a night off on a night that proceeds a good morning to go.
Good luck out there. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think there are any turkeys left in the New England area here any more, too much destruction of habitat Keith.

The gobblers are henned up right now and next to impossible to call in until the hens leave to nest, hopefully will get better as the season goes on, hope you are able to get out this season.

My object when they are henned up is to piss off the hens, get them fighting mad. If they call, interrupt them, every time. When I interrupt them and they stop yelping, I stop, then start right back with another series of yelps. When. She comes looking to teach that hussy trying to steal her man a lesson, tom will come following. And it's fun. You can almost feel their frustration when you cut them off and interrupt them.
