Well I got lucky this morning, I set up overlooking a field that the turkeys have been roosting alongside of and settled in to wait, they started gobbling a bit later than they have been and had roosted farther up the fence line and now were behind me, but I could not change my setup for fear of being seen, so I gave a few soft calls to let them know where I was then went silent and waited for them to fly down, they soon did, along with all their girlfriends and paraded back behind me and out of range, crossed a small creek and into the next small field, I gave a few more calls and then just watched, thinking when they got out of sight I would reposition, but for some reason the hens turned back, crossed the creek, and drug those two big toms right by me, bless their hearts! I was filming, and was watching him flop, when I noticed he picked his head up and was acting like he might try to take off, so I rushed him and we engaged in hand to hand combat for a bit, I managed to grab a handful of tail and he pulled so hard and was flopping around so that his whole tail pulled out! what a bummer! I got a foot on his head and put his lights out,... thinking back, it was a touch farther shot than I thought, and I think I aimed a bit low, found a number of beebee's in his breast. So here is my tailless turkey.

Way to persevere, congratulations. Too bad about this tail, but better than spurs in your wrist.

A randy gobbler will respond to loud flatulence if it thinks it remotely sounds like a female turkey....

Black Hand said, "Nope - I was basing my assessment upon the sounds I make with a wingbone call. " Are you sure that's where the sound is coming from? Spence

Excellent and congrats! Life being so busy hasn't afforded me much woods time... Hardest animal I've hunted to date, the Turkey! Enjoy that fine bird, I envy you! Can't wait till fall!
Make a wing bone call. It certainly is a must with your bird.
