This is my attempt to copy an original boucheron (pictured below) which has been on display at Versailles since 1786. My version is a 5 pouce type "B" (straight spine, rounded heel) boucheron with French yellow boxwood handle like the original.

I've dabbled in quillworking and prefer it to beadwork. I started with a porcupine on the hoof and went from there...

Is there any documentation on who carved the effigy and when? I'm wondering if it was done on bespoke work from the manufacturer or it was done by an owner?
