I'm often asked during educational events and living history weekend's what exactly are the meanings behind my paint and color schemes. There are a magnitude of various meanings that differ from individual tribes and personal preference. However I have included a few resources that outline some more simplistic universal facts behind applying paint and what the colors represent among tribes. I personally carry a paint kit utilizing all natural pigments made by me. I also carry a assortment of freshwater muscle shells as mixing containers and a tin of tallow to act as a base for the pigments. Each pigment is stowed separately in handmade cane containers that are capped with cork stoppers. This all is housed within a simple brain tan poke bag. m.warpaths2peacepipes.com/native-american-culture/war-paint.htmm.warpaths2peacepipes.com/native-american-symbols/color-meanings-symbolism.htm
