So here’s an unexpected surprise. I made an unreasonable offer on a vintage blanket that had been sitting on eBay for a while. I buy old wool blankets now and then for all my family’s outdoor pursuits. I bought this one for a stockpile of wool blanket material since I really don’t need another blanket. Some of the edge binding is missing and a corner was cut off about 5” on the diagonal. But this thing is just too nice to cut up. 6’x8’ and a tight, dense weave. A bit scratchy. But maybe this could be made into a nice 18th century blanket? Something else for me to study up on. $30 shipped. Whatcha think?

I like it, a good wool blanket in that style is to good for passing up. Consider a trade for something else if you "really" don't need it... 😉

Blanket for Fowler. Good trade. I’ll PM ya. All my other blankets are Point blankets and I think of a later period. This one might be closer to 1750s? Maybe with a false center seam?

Looks like an old hospital blanket. They can be pretty easily found but $30 is always a good price for that much wool. I wouldn't bother with the false center seam myself. If you cut it off in a manner to remove the cut corner and leave yourself a nice rectangle or square, will it be big enough for a matchcoat? I won't wear white in the woods during hunting season, and don't advise anyone else to, but wool takes many natural dyes very well. I find my matchcoat invaluable during December hunting season here.

‘Nick - This is 6 feet by 8 feet. And the cut corner is a 5 inch arch. Basically a complete queen blanket. It would be more ‘cape’ than matchcoat. I have enough for anything I want to do with it. Wanna snuggle? Hawkeyes… totally understand. But! I do enjoy the barter system. A lot. It’s been a huge part of my adult life. Especially when I was in Alaska. Once I have the skills and a stockpile of materials, I’d love to work trades. Like… a pound of coffee for a week’s flintlock hunt in northern PA with thousands of acres to roam?

I'll send you 2 pounds of Black Rifle coffee for that deal, lol. And bring some with me if Hakweyes joins in the hunt too.

I do like a good wool blanket, but snuggling is out of the question - you're all bumpy in the WRONG places...

It is PC/HC, but I like my space as I am a light sleeper. I already don't sleep well or get enough sleep...

LOL! Me too. I’m actually on a CPAP so sleeping rough in the woods is an ordeal.
When I was doing ACW at a high level, the roughest fella in the unit would give a talk about PC/HC ‘sharing blankets’ and body warmth when sleeping on campaign to new recruits, concluding with “you and me, we got the honeymoon suit tonight.”
It was a sort of litmus test that always ended with a chuckle. One quick witted young fella responded with “thanks, I’ll be an anachronism.” I still laugh about that.
