These are neat. I actually recently stumbled upon the MET objects while looking for something else. Mom has a couple later ceramic lidded mugs (Swiss family - Waldvogel) and I was fascinated with them as a kid. My little town has a German chriskindl market every year and there’s always a ton of these around keeping cider and mulled wine hot.

Mom has a couple later ceramic lidded mugs (Swiss family - Waldvogel) and I was fascinated with them as a kid. My little town has a German chriskindl market every year and there’s always a ton of these around keeping cider and mulled wine hot. I didn't find out about the Armetale Mugs till the late 1990's when I saw a friend's lady using hers. She laughed when she said it keeps the bugs out of your drinks and if you want to drink a modern soft drink with ice, it hides it well, though the outside does "sweat" with iced drinks. Works great with hot drinks, too. I seem to recall there were two sizes of these mugs, though it is difficult to find information on them now. If my memory isn't completely shot, I found the larger of the two sizes and snapped it up. Now even the large ones are not huge or oversize and most men who bought them (no matter their size) wanted the larger size. Gus
