Yes, I know this is only an auction house and they give NO provenance nor explanation of how they dated the pieces in this group. I came across this group when looking for examples of 18th century Iron buckles.
I was a bit shocked that this is the first time I've seen what may be or is an original round iron buckle similar to what H&B has been selling since the 1970's. I'm still highly skeptical it was something used in the 18th century, though.
