I strongly suspect many liberties were taken with the clothing, though much does look as if it could be close - like yourself, I'm not very familiar with this era. Based upon the books written by Bernard Cornwell (I'm listening to book 12 right now), the same who wrote The Last Kingdom (Utrecht of Bebenburg), a series about the invasion & pillaging of England by the Danes (Amazon Prime IIRC).
Regardless, both were entertaining series.
I discovered yesterday that there are additional Sharpe episodes from 2006-? I've found clips, but can't seem to find full episodes yet. The original series ends at 14 or 15 and the newer episodes number into the 40s (45/46...?)
