Not a period tool, but I use it for making a lot of stuff that goes with my period gear. I have had this saw a long time, since at least probably around 2004/2006. It has cut bamboo, maple, antler, brass, copper, bone, arrow shafts,,,, and a bunch of other stuff I'm sure. And to this day ot still cuts better than the X-acto version of these saws. But, I am wondering if there is a service out there it can be sent to for resharpening? Does anyone here know? There are no maker's marks on it and the little model train shop I bought it in is long since closed. Thanks.

Hi Nock, Not sure if you have a Woodcraft Store near you, but that's where I would ask about getting someone to sharpen it for you. The following link has stores throughout the country. IF you have one locally, they MAY even have seminar classes on you learning to do it yourself. www.woodcraft.com/store_locationsGus

Auto Saw Filing here in Richmond, VA could easily sharpen this but I don't think they do mail order. Where are you located?

It's a dovetail saw. Sharpen it yourself. It takes little skill, a vice, 15 mins on YouTube, and a $5 file.

A little over an hour from the New York state line, same into Rhode Island, Massachusetts would depend on where, can be in the Berkshires in under an hour, Springfield about an hour, Boston, two hours.

Lmao,,,,, there is no such thing as just "15 minutes on YouTube." Go on for a 10 minute tutorial and come up from the rabbit hole labyrinth 27 videos later 🤣🤣🤣

If none of the options you fellas have laid out pan out, I just had another idea. There is a guy in town that was a friend of my dad and used to be a boy scout troop leader. When I was a kid he was a model maker for Coleco, and I understand he still makes very fancy working model ships and boats as a hobby,,, I'm betting he will know how to sharpen it or who can.

Maybe the Manchester Woodcraft Store is closest to you? If nothing else, you could call them to see who may do sharpening there or closer to you. www.woodcraft.com/stores/hartford-manchesterGus

Not sure as it has no markings. But those in the link certainly look like it.

Just over $2.00 for a replacement blade. You'll never find anyone who will sharpen it for that price.

Like I said, I've had this saw a long time and have used it a lot and on various materials,,,, and it still cuts better than a replaceable blade X-Acto saw with a new blade.
