The contents of my fire bag have changed over the years. I no longer carry any kindling in the bag, as I know where/how to find it in the forest in all weather conditions. I don't carry charred cloth, I only use plant & fungus tinders. My copy of an early English fire steel has been replaced with an original steel. My greased leather fire bag. I roll the top down to keep it waterproof. This contains my tinderbox.
The fire bag is carried in my belt pouch. The fire steel is tied off to the buckle on the belt pouch & also carried inside the pouch. When making fire I simply drop the steel as soon as I have caught a spark on the tinder.
Keith.
