Sweet! Great pics. Thank you for sharing. How did you spend your time there? Thanks, We just camped, walked through the merchant area, bought a few items, attended a few of the seminars (Anthony of The Deerskin Diary, and Mark Baker) took in the station, and went to see the Cumberland Gap. The event is smaller and the reenactmen/battle is canceled permanently due to leftist, woke BS...funny how 2 or 3 Marxists can decide what hundreds of reenactors can or cannot do...rant ended.

What was the objection to the battle reenactment?

.....The event is smaller and the reenactmen/battle is canceled permanently due to leftist, woke BS...funny how 2 or 3 Marxists can decide what hundreds of reenactors can or cannot do...rant ended. Some people just aren't happy unless they are making other people unhappy. And even then, I don't think those people are happy. Marxism is the equal spread of misery. It does sound like a good time otherwise. Relaxing and educational. Maybe someday I'll get to join you guys at something like this, but, I honestly doubt it. Did you guys cook meals for yourselves within the station or did they have someone doing most of the cooking for the group and keeping the board period correct?

Nock. We did our own cooking in camp, the only people camped within the station seemed to be staff and presenters, the rest of the people camp in a field just outside. It's a great place.
Spence the reasons given was that there was no battle at that site historically, and having a battle reenactment somehow is promoting violence ....and they complained that many of the reenactors portraying Indians were not of Indian heritage, or not enough etc, etc - so many of the reenactors that have put a lot of research, money and time into their portrayal are forced out.

Great pictures Spence. Do we have historical examples of that, what I'll call a, double basket? If so, is there a propper name for one of that style? Did it serve a special purpose?
Those gourds look massive.
Nice of them to show such hospitality even though they weren't really "open."

I think those double baskets are called egg baskets. Maybe to keep eggs from rolling around and getting broken as they are gathered? The type is quite old.

Thanks Spence. You're theory makes good sense. It would also be a good way to divide a harvest one is gathering. Types of eggs, types of berries, etc.
