My motivation for starting this forum was to provide a place for those interested in the history of the 18th/19th Century, focused on the French & Indian War through Fur Trade periods (~1700-1840) and related topics.
The goal of this forum is to stay within the realms of Period and Historical Correctness.
Definitions:
Period-correct (PC) - skill or item that is correct for a specific/particular period in history (specific).
Historically-correct (HC) - skill or item that is correct to some period/age in history (general).
A few simple rules:
Please stay within the realm of historical knowledge and support statements you make concerning history with evidence/facts. While some things will be common knowledge, if you have no historical evidence to support your statement, then perhaps you should consider posting in the Tavern section where the topics for discussion might range farther afield. This doesn't mean we will always be correct or know the same details as others, but fundamentally, we are here to learn from each other.
We are adults and as such, we will disagree at some point. I have no problem with respectful disagreement, but will have have a problem with name-calling and poor behavior.
Politics and Religion are not to be discussed, except as aspects of history and in a historical context ONLY. Please do not use this forum as a place to evangelize or proselytize for your particular faith/religion or political party/candidate/ideology - this will be grounds for being asked to cease and if the behavior continues, you will be banned. I have seen too many friendships ruined by these topics and I don't wish it to happen here.
