My preferred tool for fanning flames/fire-lighting is a small set of bellows - built a set from a pine board, a piece of copper pipe, leather and tacks. Admittedly, not the most refined piece of kit I've made but very useful. Beats blowing through a pipe or fanning with hat/newspaper/pot lid. I've found the bellows especially helpful when using a charcoal brazier or wood stove.

Your going to make me post images of my 4' x 6' forge bellows that are not complete. Bellows are indeed a wonderful tool and mesmerizing in their simplicity.

I'd post a picture of my bellows, but they have run off and are hiding in an unknown place at the moment...

I'd post a picture of my bellows, but they have run off and are hiding in an unknown place at the moment... Maybe you should bellow for them to come back.

I am still using my hat, but that usually only happens if the the majority of the kindling is damp or wet. Keith.
