Well obviously I could be wrong, I am no expert, but it does look as though this collection includes sugar nippers, a meat cleaver & a few other items that I would normally not associate with woodworking. Keith.

You are not wrong. I see 2 sugar nippers and 2 crimping/stitching markers among the tools and several that appear to be pinking irons (not chisels).

Believe it or not, but I've seen that photo with a caption that claimed they were 18th century sewing tools.

Gus There is a lot of misinformation out there Gus, in antique auction houses & other sales sites. These sites seem to not put any effort into researching the items they have, neither does the seller. They must just guess at it & assume that is good enough. Sometimes it is an advantage to someone who knows exactly what the item really is! I have often seen whetstone horns, blowing horns & tinder horns touted as being powder horns! Keith.

Indeed, I just shook my head and thought unkind thoughts about the person/s who said they were sewing tools. Gus
