I messaged him a few weeks ago, but didn't get a response. He does drop off the map for a while on occasion. Hope he and his family are safe and healthy!
Feb 10 was his most recent post here and Feb 28 at MLF.

There is no one to argue with here, regarding on topic period matters, and vent my frustrations with "possibles bags", "they had the material and ability so they must have made one/them", and other claptrap. So, I go there and mix it up now and then. There are still some good folks there, even though I have no interest in ever building a gun I'm always happy to follow along as Dave Persons builds one and posts updates with pictures. And every now and then someone new there can be encouraged in their interests and eventually brought here. Speaking of "where is...?" and newer members, anyone heard from ewoaf? Known as Beau (spelling?) on the MLF. |

I will attest the for sale area had allot of traffic and that was useful. Besides that, as nock mentioned Dave P. is one skilled, talented and knowledgeable builder. Enjoyed learning from him and asking questions but this is my home and the only place on the web I belong! |

The frustrating thing for me in these "arguments" is that, and there was just an example of this over there, is that people don't get that many of us on the hc/pc side of things don't care what they do or use, we care what they say. I don't care if someone uses a short starter, I do care if they tell people it is historically correct for periods and personal that it is not. And worse, when they make lame, tired, hackneyed, justifications for doing so. As I said in that recent thread, "By some people's logic Simon Kenton was just as likely to wear a toga, while shooting a match lock, with a mace tucked in his sash. As he was to wear a rifle shirt, shoot a flintlock, and carry a tomahawk." |
