Purchased some new linen thread from Townsend and have been dying to try it out. Which, I'm very impressed with the thread, medium weight and has a good homespun texture. So, needed a new shot bag. Simple construction with a red oak throat burned out and a simple ash turned plug. Oak throat is wrapped in hemp thread and sealed with hide glue. I like to carry enough shot for six loads which gets me my limit on either rabbit or squirrel. Nothing fancy, just nicely made and that new linen thread is pleasing.

Any idea of the documentation for such accouterments ? Yes plenty. Keith has a great post on his website and plenty more can be found if you search for birdshot bags/ pouches.

Now THAT is a very creative tapered stopper with lace retention system! Nice Job.
Some time ago Spence did a super mini tutorial on wrapping and tying the thread around the neck of the stopper, on the other forum. I thought I saved it, but lost it. Maybe we can impose on him to post it here?

As in start the material in a U around the throat, wrap one around one way, then the other. Important to have your choice of lashing well waxed to achieve a taunt fit. Much easier to see in person than to explain! I make these often for people, also make them to hold ball as well.
