I recently acquired a couple original fowlers in deplorable shape that I'm now endeavoring to make into guns that I've needed for quite some time. Wanting to be true to what they originally are, I've taken time to contemplate that, yet balance that desire with my needs. These are long barrels, both 48" oct/rnd, 20ga. Pics to follow of the original state. I've done quite a bit yet, but first I'll show you the bayonet I'm creating for one. I'm wanting this one to be an officers fusil.

Blaster1. Gonna make a Wilson chief's gun out of this, which it probably was judging from the parts. Blaster2 I've already cut this one to 46", it's a hook breech with keys, should make a killer officers fusil. Both barrels are cleaned up and proofed, ready to inlet, so I guess it's time to order some walnut.

Added a lug and fit the socket. Also spent time shaping the blade. I do think I'm going to put the bayonet into the buttstock

After much debate and long hours of research I've concluded how to go about this. I've been accumulating tools and parts over the last couple weeks and hope to soon have it all together. This is the gist. Gun ONE is built around an original 48" .60 barrel and original mounts in brass as a 70s Wilson chief's gun, sterling silver sight, chambers English round face lock that I'm going to remove the bridles from. Straight grain walnut blank that's 65"long is sitting in the kitchen. Next to that is a 65"very curly blank of maple which will become a 39"bbl Deringer 1830s smooth rifle from an old junkar Kentucky (my first ever ML) that I found. I actually cut my teeth in living history doing 2nd Seminole war years ago, so this has been a desire for a long time. Lastly that lugged 46" original bbl is going to be a classic mid 1700s English Fowler in figured European walnut in a arms panoply themed silver mounts. Finished that little damn bayonet today but not going to chance dicking up a $700 hunk of wood by trying to stow it in the buttstock. Chambers round faced English lock. Pics to follow, but for now, here's the bayo.

It's starting to look like a gun. This is the 48" Wilson fowler.

"Do you know why I prefer a serrated blade?" Simcoe AMC Turn... Good looking piece of cold hard steel.
