Several of the plates in the article come from a period French document by Perret, "L'Art du Coutelier."
The original is in French, however, the plates are visually much better, and depict the entire process of forming a blade, making grips (aka knife scales), and the very large range of cutting implements being made by French knife makers in the mid-late 18th century. These plates can be used to look for modern made knives that are very close copies to period made items.
