You guys really convince me to make a Kibler my first build.
I think my wife might buy me the kit for our anniversary to build during the quarantine.
My question: this being my first build of any kind, would you guys be able to guide me in putting what tools I might need to put together? What size chisels? What other tools would be necessary?
I actually emailed the folks at Kibler but never heard back from them.

1/4" and a 3/8" chisel. I make my own from tool steel but TOW sells them.
Drill, small bit for pins (I'll check the size) can't remember off the top what size it is.
Wooden mallet or rawhide mallet.
Lastly and most importantly GOOD files. Single cut mill file, double cut bastard file. Nice to have one each flat and half round. A GOOD set of swiss needle files.
Thats really as complex as it gets. HOWEVER... I suggest you purchase a good reference book, Recreating the American Longrifle.
They will email you back, great people to do business with.
There are some odds and ends that make life easier and really just depends on what you get yourself into.

I would include a couple small gouges and custom scrapers. Other than 4 straight chisels I bought, I made all the others I use - my favorite is a fishtail shape with the cutting edge about a half inch wide.

Gouges are certainly handy... I use my 3/8 all the time for carving a bowl into the ramrod end for driving the ball.
