I love paw paws. The taste always reminds me of banana pudding.

Ooo banana and mango had a baby, they are just delicious, down right good. Just a wonderful and healthy food, provided by nature.

Here are a couple of YouTube videos by Jon Townsend which may be of interest. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b6Ojpeb-oQwww.youtube.com/watch?v=W3-85vpDKEIWhen I was a teenager I knew a spot along a creek bottom where I could gather paw paws every fall, and we loved them. About 50 years then went by without them. Our local zoo has a nature trail through an area of woods of several acres, part of which is low land along a stream. It's right in the middle of town. The first time my wife and I hiked it several years ago we came on a large area of paw paws perfect for gathering. They were even better than I remembered. Spence

Interestingly, when I look up nutritional information on Pawpaw, I get a lot of responses for papaya. Turns out they are somewhat related. I use papaya enzyme for heartburn and other digestive issues. It also aids in the digestion of protein. I'd be curious if one of you fellows who has access to these little fruits could do an experiment and see if some mashed up fruit will tenderize a tough piece of meat. Maybe marinate a small piece of the meat with the papaya?

I had a very close friend in high-school who's family hailed from the Evansville, Indiana area and slightly south into that part of Kentucky. "Way down yonder in the paw paw patch," was one of her grandmother's favorite songs. And they were all big singers and heavily into music.

Ive never heard of them, are they not commonly used or domesticated in your part of the world?

They grow in the eastern central US, and are not normally sold commercially, as they are quite perishable and thus difficult to transport and store.
