What kind of "food safe solder" can I use to re-solder the joints on a tin or stainless steel canteen? In an attempt to heat it up to evaporate any residual moisture I melted off the solder at a couple of different places and now it leaks.

Problem with soldering canteens is the heat buildup you get within the container. This can usually cause joint issues. Wrap the vessel in a cold wet towel or rag to keep it cool best you can, I've done this several times.
Any food safe solder obviously won't have led, most plumbing solders don't contain led due to their use in potable water systems.
Stainless can be a pain to solder, key is a good flux. Don't skimp on the flux!
