Not sure this belongs here, I think most of our minds go to the gear we use on the trail, in the woods and fields, when we see this section. Should we have an 18ty century tools and shop section? Maybe also an 18th century homegoods section?
Anyway. When do screw in eyelets and eyebolts come to be? Were small cleats ever used in non-marine applications as tie down points on wagons, cargo sleds, carts and such?

Did that. I got a video game, a leather camera bag and strap company (does look like nice stuff), and an interesting clamp/dog for clamping things to a work bench or anvil. Not really a tie off point.

Thank you.
What hardware might have been used as a tie off point for a cargo sled or small wagon/cart?

Worth a try? Thanks for the above links, I have a digital ton of 18th century material culture stuff downloaded from scribd already, yet didn't think to look there. Looking for what to use, if I turn a wooden toboggan into a freight hauler, as an attachment point to tie things down.

Haven't bought one yet, but that is basically what I'm planning on. Figuring to to add a strip of wood lengthwise down each side. Maybe if I attach it to the cross pieces I can do so in a way to get rope around it to tie off. Also plan to add a rope to the back to lower it down hill ahead of me.

Well then, seems to me you can work ropes in under the lengthwise strips you plan on attaching. Gus P.S. Did the AOL Search link work for you?
