This weekend January 17 was the 240th anniversary of the battle of Cowpens. Battle of Cowpens National Battlefield (National park service). This weekend my family and I were some of the small group of reenactors providing historical interpretation at the 240th anniversary of the Battle of Cowpens. This was primarily done as a virtual event with special talks and videos throughout the weekend but a small group of reenactors camped (and froze!) in the battlefield park and provided demonstration and interpretation to small groups of visitors. It was extremely cold, dropping down to about 27°. But many of the writings of the battle describe it as a bitter cold morning, so it really gave us a feel for what they must’ve felt on that fateful day. It was amazing to be camping and reenacting and national park land at the actual battlefield. Note to self: - must really work on adding soles to my moccasins. I wore my buckle shoes because of the terrain but I’d much rather be wearing my mocs. - you really have to pay close attention to where you carry your gear so you can access it when you need it. Exactly the same considerations you have to think about on the modern battlefield if you were a warfighter. - no matter how long or how short do you think you’ll be out in the field, always bring water. I hope these pictures post

I'll have to send Mr Hamilton the funds with which to procure his men with appropriate personal grooming articles.
