This fella I know has some old buck skins from the 1980s he was willing to sell me. I’m hoping to use them mostly for shooting bags. What do you think they’re going cost for these are? It looks like they were sent off to be tanned so I don’t think they’re brain tanned But they are very very supple. Not sure how to best check them for any defects. Any advice would be appreciated.

Holes and thin spots are evident when handled.
As to cost, I'd speculate $75-100 or more per hide for retail - this is just a guess. See what he'd be willing to accept...

With a good dose of smoke and/or walnut dye, they might be perfectly suitable for some applications. Depends on what you plan to make...

Looks like ones sold by RK Lodges at Friendship during that time. As to price, back in that period, Richard sold his hides for around $ 40.00 to $ 45.00 for hides that size, which might be useful information. Gus
