Looking to add a brown/red hat to my kit for a more accurate impression and most importantly, for woods time (squirrel and what not).
Wondering if y'all had a recommendation for a good vendor/maker or if you even may have one you wish to part with.

Black would be better than brown.

If cost is not a major factor, Clearwater Hats and Dirty Billy's Hats are excellent quality.

I have a felted wool hat blank (black) I shaped and have hand sewn a linen liner into. Easy to do if your willing. Believe I purchased the blank from Cockedhats. You shouldn't have a problem acquiring a good quality blank. Only thing I didn't like about mine when new during a few downpours the dye ran and stained some of my clothing, isn't an issue now with wear and use.

Crazy Crow blanks are decent. I recommend the heavier weight wool felt.

...and maybe I used a little too much shellac. Shellac is soluble in alcohol - a bottle of isopropyl alcohol might take some of the "stiff" out...
