Hand sewing is easy - keep your thread well waxed, the stitches small, even and evenly spaced. Yes, a thimble will help, but even more helpful is a small pair of round-nosed jewelry pliers. A thread that may be useful - minuteman.boards.net/thread/103/mens-shirt

Thanks, Hand. I did read that thread but I’m going to refresh my memory.
Dye the fabric, or dye the garment?

Either way works.
Option 3 - don't bother dyeing the fabric/garment. The natural linen color is nearly invisible in the woods...

What you use for a mordant can drastically change what color you get from natural dyestuffs. There is a site, I think it is dharma trading, or something like that, which has a big list of potential natural plant dyes and what colors you get with which mordant.

I personally like walnut myself. It's just so stinking easy to use plus I like the smell of hauled walnuts... However there are a multitude of natural dyes available. We should have topic pertaining to that somewhere if my memory serves me right.

I need to try to go into my old phone. I know I saved a bunch of stuff on plant dyes and mordant pertaining to what combinations give what colors. I can't find any of it on this phone.

We should have topic pertaining to that somewhere if my memory serves me right. I had a good time today with walnut. I’m trying to get a shift to the grey hues with iron mordant (Ferrous Sulphate… I have low iron…) but unsuccessful as of this evening. I can see this being a really enjoyable part of the hobby for me. You should see what I’ve done to match the cane and varnish and silk thread colors on a 90yo bamboo fly rod! Talk about alchemy!
