You likely loose weight overnight. I know I’m often 5 lbs lighter in the morning than when I go to bed.

Anyone ever do this and then have a neighbor very leisurely stroll by?? “Hello, Betsy.” Strange look… hastens her pace…

Looking rather dapper, there Ryan. Not at all like a period poppinjay or macaroni.
"Anyone ever do this and then have a neighbor very leisurely stroll by??" Oh yeah, that and much more. Grin.
It might be fun to start a thread with funny/unusual reactions of everyday folks when we have been in period clothing.

I've gotten rather strange looks in the grocery store. We were walking out from a hunting season trek one time and encountered another hunter walking towards us on the same road. We were having a great time squelching through melting slush and once he noticed us, he gave us a very wide berth even after we greeted him. His look said it all - who are these crazy people in funny clothes that are talking to me...?

Looking sharp Ryan. You look like you should be behind the bar or otherwise managing the local tavern-inn.

Looking great! I like the color choices, my cousin has a frock coat from Cobb Creek as well, they are about a 2 hour drive from where I live, and I've never been there,... one of these days....

Thanks, pal. The suit is great. I especially like the frock. Being a guy that can’t let well enough alone, I’ll tinker with it a bit.
* 1” self-covered buttons - 28 of them! * Interfacing on the button line * Reworked buttonholes - hand stitched with the extended ‘tails’ - 28 of them! * Skirts lined in lightweight natural linen or the hems reworked to deal with the white thread * Possibly a collar which was common on informal frocks

Another example. Note the collar, cuffs, buttonholes, and pockets. Pockets often had non-functional buttons.

My button molds arrived, so had to try a fabric covered button. Straightforward and satisfying. Only… 27 more to go.

I came upon this image while looking around for how collars were attached to frock coats. I had read several places that seams on coats were not felled to close up the raw edges. This, I assumed, was in regards to wool broad cloth. But then there was mention of overcasting the seam allowance in, I think, Tidings. So apparently it was this was in regards even on fabrics like linen that will unravel. Still, this made sense to my reasoning in a lined coat where the seams of the body would be completely enclosed. Then this turned up. What a marvelous image for a ‘means and methods’ nerd like me! This is a linen coat c.1780 with provenance to Connecticut and Rhode Island. There’s no evidence that a lining ever existed, and you can see the neat overcasting of the raw edges of the seam allowances.
